I 100% agree...for me, it was very severe asthma that i developed at the age of 44. It sure did a number on my lifestyle...most of which I'm grateful for. I'm probably healthier and happier now at 51 than I was when I was supposedly healthier :)

I just found your post by complete coincidence. I was on prednisone for about 4 years for very severe asthma. By the end, I was on a very low 2.5mg dose. Regardless of a really good taper, my adrenal glands took almost 4 months to be back to "normal". Until then, I sometimes had to take a low dose for a few days to not become too dysfunctional. Then, I could go 4 weeks off, then one week on...then 6 weeks off one week on...it was a little more each time.

Now, I am finally weaned and must only take it for one to two weeks at a time a couple of times a year. I actually just finished a 7 day stretch after a record 140 days off prednisone.

I have a love/hate relationship with prednisone. Of course, it quickly does the job and gives me boundless energy...but, I feel jittery and don't sleep as well when I'm on it and am always hungry. Then there are the many awful side-effects. Let's just say I'm mostly really glad my health has improved and that I have been able to wean off the prednisone.

Good luck with your health and I hope the Lupus symptoms stay under control.

Just thought I'd share :)

Angela, with your determination and strength of will, I have the feeling you'll be taking your photos whenever and wherever you want, soon.

When I taught aerobics, I remember a gal with Lupus who frequented the gym who told me that the gentle aerobic exercise she did helped her so much. I can only think that the weights will be beneficial, as well.

A year ago I had both a flu shot and pneumonia shot at around 4:PM. The next thing I knew was about 3:00 AM... I was spread-eagle on a tile kitchen floor with a lump the size of a grapefruit on the back of my head and both arms swollen, red and hot. I can NOT tell you the pain I was in.

I have NO idea how I came to be on the floor, don't remember getting out of bed, all I remember is the horrible pain in my arms as I tried to sleep that night.

I've had flu shots every year and pneumonia shot once before. Could this reaction be from getting them both at once?

I am (obviously) afraid to take either one again...the next cat-scan might show a concussion or I might not wake from it at all! The lump on my head stayed for months!

Was it the flu shot, the pneumonia shot or taking them both at the same time? Help!

For me, the iPhone is all hype and no real worth. When the iPhone debuted I purchased two of them. Since then, one of them died a horrible death and the other still works but I now use it as a skype phone and iPod. First AT&T's network was horrible with more dropped calls than I've ever experienced in my life. In terms of data, it would drop from EDGE to no man's land unexpectedly. I also like having some control. The iPhone is sealed meaning I cannot carry a spare battery and I cannot add a larger SD card. After a few months of using the original iPhone I ended up canceling the phone and returned to Verizon for better service and a Blackberry, which I still have.

My Blackberry and Droid drop calls but not as often as the iPhone did (or as often as my friends who now have iPhones complain bitterly), I can add larger memory cards to store more information and I can carry backup batteries. For me, the iPhone was a brick without options and I just don't like limitations like that. Even if it were to come to Verizon I would need and want the capability of adding a battery and more memory.

I enjoyed your post ... and I'm glad that you've re-entered cyberspace via social networks. I was interested in your decision to purchase Droid. You seem like a person that would do research ... and who wouldn't waste money. Why did you choose Droid over iPhone?

I would just like o comment on those who wonder why MJ never exposed his Lupus like a banner. Keep in mind that from everything we've seen of him, MJ was an extremely private individual who wanted his work to be recognized for it, not for his personal issues. But I believe the BIGGEST thing that has kept him very private about this disease is the fact that he's an entertainer who relied on his physical well-being to continue performing. If ever it had gotten out that he had a serious disease, I'm sure it would've been an insurance nightmare. MJ particularly relied on sponsorship to fund his million-dollar tours, & he's not going to get those sponsors without the backing of an Insurance company. Even his insurance paid Evan Chandler, so we realize how important it is for MJ to perform & give a message of good health.

Wouldnt all that dancing and singing have affected his lungs and his whole body - nerves, muscles, bones, everything? some of the dance moves looked stressful on the joints, and the way he performed non stop , singing at the top of his lungs and dancing at the same time...
